Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, extension agencies, private sector including exporters, processors, central bank, private commercial banks, and CSOs participated. The meeting was an inspiring discussion about the success of the MMI approach and the importance of scaling it up. Participants spoke about the growth in SBKS’ capacity and expressed their confidence that they will be able to handle this new, larger project. Many private sector actors enthusiastically gave their support and interest to continue working with POs under the new project. Additionally, exporters confirmed their interest to work with POs and the government to establish regional-level sanitary certification facilities. By the end of the meeting, an atmosphere of true collaboration and respect was evident, with all involved—from the government to private sector to civil society to POs and smallholder farmers—geared up to support the proposed project.
